History
In 1982, at the beginning of the personal computer era, Autodesk began developing CAD software for use on IBM PCs. The software was named AutoCAD because its functions mimicked the computerized drafting, drawing, and editing abilities of the MIT CAD system.[3]
Autodesk launched AutoCAD as a product in December 1982. It was initially used mainly by engineers and architects, and only 16,000 copies were sold in its first six months of release. History

At the main menu, click on “Settings”, “Import-Export” and “Preferences”.
Under Import/Export, go to the bottom and click on “Import and Export from/to model”.
