History

jquery.submit() reloading whole page?

Is it possible to use.submit() to fire a bunch of AJAX requests and have those requests send a request when the responses come in?
Right now, I have a large form with several textboxes and a submit button.
Every textbox has a change event handler.
Every time the change event fires, I want to make an AJAX request to a PHP file which sends a confirmation back if everything’s OK.
I want to fire this on submit and cancel it when all of the AJAX requests return OK.
The problem is, I can’t seem to cancel the submit function even though my code seems to be doing what I want it to. All it does right now is reload the page, after I hit the submit button and type something into one of the textboxes.
Here’s my code:

Edit: The issue was not with the.submit() function, but rather with the fact that I was calling.submit() on the form itself, when the #input element was actually the element I wanted to fire.submit() on.
