MIDI Monitor (or MIDI Monitor for MIDI keyboards) provides an easy way to see what MIDI events are being generated from your instruments and effects. While a lot of this info is already displayed in the sequencer, it’s not always easy to grasp.
Most host sequencers, such as Cubase, don’t display the key and velocity and only display the note on the active channel. However, the current value of the note, velocity and channel status can still be read directly from the editor.
Therefore, this MIDI Monitor feature does exactly that: it displays the MIDI information in the control editor and allows you to see, for each MIDI event, what the values of the currently active parameter are.
