Japanese Patent Application (OPI) No. 51,865/81 discloses a process wherein a metal chelate is prepared by reacting an alkali halide with a metal halide in the presence of water. According to the process, a part of the alkali halide is converted into a metal chelate of an organic substance, such as a polyhydroxy organic compound, and the metal chelate thus formed is converted into a metal chelate of an inorganic salt in the presence of water to obtain a metal chelate of an organic-inorganic compound. Accordingly, the yield is low and the process is complicated.
