For those who aren’t familiar, a „crossover“ is when one universe follows the same basic plot elements of another universe. The most notable example of this is the Batman/Superman crossover and how it affected the DC Comics universe in the 1960s. Here is a rough representation of what happened:

A quick reader might think „how is this a crossover?!“ This might seem like the obvious thing to point out, but I believe that DC Comics has made the correct decision to have these crossovers.

The reason Superman and Batman should team up is because these two universes are very different. Superman is a strong believer in the values of the United States of America. He believes in finding a way to make sure the world has peace and justice, and take down criminals, not only because he has a moral obligation but because he believes that’s how he’ll make the best use of his superpowers. Batman, on the other hand, has a very old fashioned, „I’ll shoot first and ask questions later“ kind of mentality. In this case, though, it is a smart move on DC’s part to cross over them. To assess the effectiveness of methylene blue (MB) for preserving the adenovirus receptor (ADR) and adenovirus (Ad) binding, we examined the effect of MB on cultured human peritoneal mesothelial cells (HPMC). ADR was assessed by flow cytometry in HPMC exposed to Ad for different periods of time in the presence or absence of MB and compared with that of uninfected HPMC. We also examined Ad uptake and intracellular distribution in HPMC exposed to Ad in the presence or absence of MB. After infection with Ad for 60 min, HPMC lost the ADR to the degree of 70%. The addition of MB for only 15 min to Ad-infected HPMC significantly preserved the ADR to the level of 60-70%. Incubation of HPMC with Ad for only 5 min and subsequent exposure to MB for 15 min preserved the ADR to the level of 60%. MB alone had no effect on the ADR or Ad uptake. MB preserves ADR on HPMC, presumably by a binding action. Moreover, Ad can be taken up and transported to the nucleus in the presence of MB, which seems to reduce the immune response to Ad in vivo.
